How Bad is Your Dry Skin?

By Louise Forrest

If you look very carefully at the shelves of the beauty departments in most stores you will see that a great number of products that are available do cater for those who are suffering from dry skin. Dry skin can vary from being mild to moderate to also being very severe. And depending on just how severe your condition is, will depend on the products that you need to be using.

The best creams are those that are designed to be applied to the body whilst it is a little damp in order to help retain in any moisture content and to also prevent any moisture from escaping.

It is important that you are taking a close look at what products you are applying to your skin. This is because many of the common soaps and standard lotions and creams also contain a number of harsh ingredients that can cause the skin to become dry. One of the most common ingredients that is found that can lead to additional dryness is that of alcohol. It is a known fact that this leads to dryness and yet it is found in many of the products that are designed to help provide relief for this condition.

One of the symptoms of dry skin is that the skin can be very itchy and this can lead to a great deal of frustration. In order to help treat the dryness there are many oils that can be used to help soothe away the these symptoms. One of the best oils is that of olive oil as this is considered to be very similar to the actual oils that are produced naturally by the glands in the skin.

It has been mentioned that you need to be very careful of what skin products you are applying to your skin and you should not believe the hype that a lot of products claim.

Many of the products claim to have extracts of Vitamin E, but when you look at the ingredients, it is not even mentioned. There is no regulation when it comes to the labelling of beauty and skin care products, so the only real option that you have is to look at the ingredients and to make your buying decision from there.

You need to be caring for your skin all the time if you find that it is dry, chapped, flaking and even cracking. Dry skin not only has its obvious problems but it does lead to the skin developing wrinkles and fine lines at an accelerated rate, making a person look much older than they actually are.

Because there are so just many reasons for a person having dry skin it can be difficult finding what the actual cause is. One of the most often unnoticed reasons is that of the water that is being used is actually quite hard. Hard water does contain a number of deposits that are not ver good for the skin and this can cause a disruption. Should it be that you do have hard water then you need to install a filter to ensure that the water you are washing with is soft.
